DIRECTORS MESSAGE

Watsonville/Aptos Adult Education is always an exciting place to be! Our school is very fortunate to have a very supportive Board of Trustees and Superintendent, Dorma Baker. In the fall, we had the State legislature recommend the passage of AB (Assembly Bill) 189 which Governor Brown signed into law. AB 189, authorized by Assemblyman Mike Eng of Monterey Park, returns Adult Education from Tier 3 flexibility to the original funding system at the end of the identified term of flexibility ,which currently is 2015. When the State allocates funds for Adult Education, Districts may use this money to support K-12 needs. In 2015, money that is sent for Adult Education Programs must be used for Adult Education.

McDonald’s, our community partner, recognized our partnership at their Annual Awards Night in November. McDonald’s gives back to the community in numerous ways. They are committed to supporting education at different levels. We appreciate their continuous interest and patronage of   Watsonville /Aptos Adult Education!

We also offer instructor based foreign language classes in Croatian, French,  Italian and Spanish. Acquire a new language prior to taking a vacation to a foreign country. Sign up today!

As we get ready for graduation, we will honor our nursing students along with our high school diploma and GED (General Education Development) students on May 24, 2012, at the Mello Center. Last year we honored 178 students during the graduation festivities and this year we hope to have even more students join us. We are also offering additional support to high school students who come after school to our Learning Center to acquire credits. High school students also take advantage of our Driver’s Education and Driver’s Training classes to prepare themselves to acquire their State Driver’s License.
